Libby & Mikey | A Christmas Wedding at Compton Verney
Libby and Mikey’s December wedding at Compton Verney was pure Christmas magic, full of warmth, personality, and a couple of unforgettable festive surprises. Set within the stunning grounds of this historic Warwickshire art gallery, their day blended romance, elegance, and a whole lot of seasonal joy in a way that felt completely “them.”
The Vision
The couple wanted a Christmas wedding, but with personal touches that made it feel cosy and heartfelt rather than themed. Their palette of rich reds, soft pinks, winter whites, and deep greens worked beautifully against the venue’s classical architecture. The whole atmosphere was designed to feel intimate, joyful, and gently festive, with little nods to the season woven throughout the styling and flowers.
The Styling
Compton Verney’s interiors were the perfect backdrop for a winter celebration. Christmas trees twinkled softly in the background, adding warmth and a touch of magic to the reception spaces. Guests were welcomed by a gorgeous illustrated sign featuring two foxes nestled inside a festive wreath — a sweet, personal detail that set the tone for the day.
The reception tables were dressed in crisp white linens and styled with rustic wooden centrepieces, winter florals, berries, and delicate decorative birds, all lovingly created by Libby herself.
The Flowers
The flowers were lush, textural, and full of winter charm. Roses in red, blush, and ivory were paired with seasonal foliage to create arrangements that felt elegant, warm, and abundant. Libby’s bouquet tied everything together perfectly — soft, romantic, and full of movement, echoing the colours used throughout the venue.
The pedestal and urns were a last-minute addition to the ceremony and really added the wow factor. The chapel, designed by Capability Brown in 1779, is absolutely stunning, full of marble and white plasterwork — but the addition of the urns, filled with seasonal seeded Eucalyptus, pink and red Roses, and Lisianthus, really made the ceremony area pop. We also tied mistletoe with burgundy ribbon to the white Chiavari chairs that lined the aisle.
Every floral detail was designed to enhance the festive feel, the venue, and most importantly, Libby’s incredible wedding dress.
A Christmas Surprise for Their Guests
Just when guests thought the day couldn’t get any more magical, Libby and Mikey revealed not one but two incredible festive surprises.
First, the ceremony included a surprise appearance from Aled Jones, the singer known for the Christmas classic Walking in the Air. For Libby’s mum, who starts every festive season on the 1st of December with Aled Jones’ music, it was an emotional and unforgettable moment.
Then, as the celebrations continued, guests stepped outside to find real reindeers waiting to greet them. It was a moment of pure joy and wonder — the kind of surprise that makes a wedding truly unforgettable.
What the Couple Said
“Laura and Kerry were just fantastic. They were so friendly, helpful and totally got our vision from the beginning. The floral arrangements were simply stunning and so much care was taken to make sure that my bouquet worked with my dress which had colour in it. The chapel decoration, with the floating candles, mistletoe, and the large urn displays was everything we could have hoped for and the wedding breakfast set up was perfect. They also printed our signs which were done to such a high quality and we just couldn’t be more grateful for everything! Thank you so much Laura and Kerry!”
